Job Summary

We are looking for a friendly, professional Bartender to join our hotel’s Food and Beverage team. In this role, you will serve guests at the bar and lounge areas, craft high-quality drinks, and create a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the overall guest experience. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality.


Essential Duties & Functions

Operational Responsibilities


  • Previously bartending experience, preferably in a hotel or upscale environment.

  • Strong mixology skills and familiarity with a wide range of cocktails and beverages.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Well‑groomed, professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Certification of completion in TABC and Food Handler.

  • Contribute positively to the team within the department.

  • Prepare for any and all guest requests.

  • Comply with Valencia Hotel Collection standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Valencia Hotel Group standards.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • Prepares all beverage mixers to recipe beverages for guests.

  • Promotes and upsells liquor and food.

  • Must be completely familiar with all the different kinds of liquor, recipes, and prices of drinks, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.

  • Follow guidelines regarding age identification for suspected minors and when dealing with an intoxicated customer.

  • Familiar with cash handling procedures to include proper discounting, TABIT system, bank procedures, and tip policies.

  • Keep work areas clean and organized.

  • Be extremely courteous to all customers and fellow employees.

  • Maintain hotel equipment in proper working conditions.

  • Effective multitasking skills.


Guest Services


  • Maintain knowledge of hotel services and amenities to assist guests with inquiries.

  • Provide personalized service by engaging with guests, learning their preferences, and making recommendations.

  • Greet guests promptly, take accurate orders, and ensure timely delivery of food and beverages.

  • Always maintain a professional and welcoming demeanor to enhance the guest experience.

  • Ensure bar seating tables are clean, properly set, and ready for service at all times.


Team Support and Training


  • Attend monthly Food and Beverage Meetings.

  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on menu items, service standards, and company policies.


Communication and Reporting

Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless guest service. Report any incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately to management.


Safety & Compliance


  • Comply with Valencia Hotel Group standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Wear required non-slip footwear to prevent slips and falls.

  • Comply with local and state laws regarding alcohol service, including verifying guest identification when necessary.


Basics


  • Warmly welcome and create a refined, inviting bar atmosphere.

  • Display courteous behavior with guests and team members.

  • Follow all opening, shift, and closing procedures.

  • Maintain a polished and well‑organized work area.

  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

  • Assist in the bar setup and breakdown during opening and closing shifts.

  • Complete a checklist every shift.

  • Weekly rehearsals to upkeep standards will be administered and utilized.


Physical Requirements

Sitting: Not applicable


Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift.


Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry trays, glassware, and supplies (up to 50 lbs if applicable).


Other Physical Requirements: Frequent bending, reaching, and light lifting required.


Working Environment


  • Interior: Operate the bar located inside the hotel.

  • Exterior: Comfortable working outdoors if needed.


Qualifications – Education and Experience


  • Communicate effectively with others.

  • Bartending experience preferred.

  • High school or equivalent education required.

  • TABC and Food Handler’s certificates.
