Job summary

HopCat in Auburn Hills is seeking a Bartender to join Project BarFly. You will craft beer, cocktails, and other beverages while creating a welcoming bar experience for guests. The role emphasizes accuracy, guest connection, and teamwork.

This part-time position offers flexible shifts (First and Second), competitive pay with tips, comprehensive training, and opportunities for growth within HopCat and Project BarFly.

Qualifications

  • Previous bartending or high-volume restaurant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of craft beer, cocktails, and spirits; training available.
  • Must meet state and local requirements for serving alcohol.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare beer, cocktails, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Take and enter accurate food and beverage orders.
  • Provide recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Use approved recipes, measuring tools, and portion standards.
  • Restock product, glassware, ice, garnishes, and supplies.
  • Communicate low inventory, quality concerns, and guest issues.
  • Complete opening, cleaning, sanitation, and closing duties.

Create an energetic and welcoming bar experience by building guest relationships, preparing consistent beverages, and operating a clean, accurate, and responsible bar.

What Success Looks Like
  • Acknowledge bar guests promptly and maintain attentive, engaging service throughout their visit.
  • Prepare drinks accurately and efficiently according to recipes, portions, presentation standards, and service priorities.
  • Demonstrate confident knowledge of HopCat's beer, cocktails, spirits, food, promotions, and rewards program.
  • Maintain responsible alcohol service by verifying identification, monitoring consumption, and involving management when appropriate.
  • Keep the bar stocked, clean, organized, and ready for peak volume before, during, and after each shift.
  • Complete bar transactions, tabs, cash handling, and required documentation accurately.
  • Support the service bar and restaurant team without sacrificing the experience of seated bar guests.

Key Responsibilities

Experience And Qualifications

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and move throughout the shift.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds, including ice and bar supplies.
  • Work safely around glassware, cleaning products, wet surfaces, and changing temperatures.
