Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services on the University of Pittsburgh campus is seeking a bartender/server for on‑site roles. You will prepare and serve beverages, greet guests, and ensure compliance with liquor regulations.

Full‑time and part‑time schedules are available. Prior bartending and serving experience is required; compensation is $20.00 per hour fixed. Training and benefits are provided to eligible employees.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to liquor regulations for serving minors and intoxicated guests.
• Sets up bars, stocks beer, wine, spirits, glassware, and supplies.
• Maintains stock and freshness of garnishes, juices and perishables.
• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Take and process drink orders; mix and present beverages per recipes.
• Check guests' identification for alcohol service.
• Detects and reports signs of intoxication per policy.
• Handle cash, process payments, and secure cash drops.
• Clean and organize work area to health standards.
• Arrange bottles and glasses for an attractive display.

bLocation: 123 University Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. This is on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.

bSchedule: Full‑time and part‑time schedules; days and hours may vary. Additional details are provided during interview.

bCompensation: $20.00 per hour fixed pay rate.

Job Summary

Prepares and serves beverages to guests in the bar area in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
• Sets up assigned bars; requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce.
• Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality.
• Greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner.
• Takes and/or processes orders for drinks; mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes; practices prudent portion control.
• Checks guests at the bar for proper identification.
• Detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws.
• Receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed.
• Locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops; secures bank.
• Performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards; keeps work area clean and organized.
• Arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area.
• Washes and sterilizes stemware.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
