Job summary

Peregrine Hospitality is seeking a Bartender to serve guests at our hotel and restaurant outlets, both at the bar and in other service areas. You will prepare drinks, assist with food service, and ensure a clean, well-stocked bar area.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of bar experience, is 21 or older, and can work flexible shifts. Knowledge of state liquor regulations and strong customer service are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalence required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a barback or bartender in a hotel or restaurant.
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Shift flexibility: Willing to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants, following service standards.
  • Take guests' drink and food orders and use suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maintain bar area cleanliness and stock levels; set up bar per standards.
  • Record orders in POS and process payments.
  • Follow safety, cash handling policies, and liquor regulation requirements.

Job description

As a Bartender, you’re responsible for servicing guests and preparing beverage orders and courteously and efficiently serving food and beverages to guests in the food and beverage outlets including the restaurant, bar and outlets. Responsible for maintenance of bar area and support the restaurant food servers, bartenders, and cocktail servers.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants, in accordance with service standards.
  • Anticipate Guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all Guests, making recommendations from guests’ preferences.
  • Take Guests’ food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
  • Complete opening duties as assigned, including check quality and quantity of all bar stock and supplies using checklist.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar.
  • Set bar according to service standards.
  • Set up all condiments (garnishes, juices, etc.) and beverages according to standards.
  • Prepare all fresh fruit garnishes according to service standards.
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of all flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service.
  • Ensure cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas.
  • Set upside stations with supplies and equipment.
  • Record orders of guests into the point-of-sale system and receive payment following service procedures.
  • Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies.
  • Open wine/champagne bottles and serve in accordance with service standards.
  • Retrieve food orders from kitchen.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Guide the activities of the bar back to ensure optimum service to Guests.
  • Remove soiled wares from bar. Clean and wipe down bar immediately after Guest departs.
  • Collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
  • Complete closing duties and reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor or Manager on Duty.
  • Must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required.
  • Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards.
  • Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations.
  • Follow safety and security procedures.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team.
  • Adhere to attendance and reliability standards.
  • Follow all additional duties as assigned by management.

  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Knowledgeable and ensure compliance of all state liquor regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of beverages, recipes and correct glassware and garnishes.

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently to assist guests
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation
  • Ability to bend and twist, push, and pull, stoop, and kneel
  • Ascend and descend a ladder
