General Summary:

The bartender for Barrel House is responsible for making and serving drinks to guests and to our servers. Ensure guest satisfaction by providing quality guest service throughout the dining/bar experience. Will need to interact verbally with guests to create an upbeat and friendly atmosphere.

Essential Functions:

• Maintains cleanliness of bar as it pertains to Barrel House and health department standards.
• Ensures stations are clean and properly stocked.
• Preps garnishments.
• Ensures sinks are cleaned properly.
• Prepares and serves drinks properly.
• Keeps updated on current drink and dinner specials.
• Has extensive menu/liquor knowledge. Possesses an awareness and ability to describe all food, drink, and special menu items.
• Responsible for answering the phones.
• Responsible for handling ToGo orders.
• Ensures all televisions are set at the proper volume and station.
• Ensures music is set at the proper volume and station.
• Puts away liquor orders.
• Responsible for ensuring a smooth rollout of drink specials.
• Responsible for suggestive selling to increase tickets.
• Sets up and maintains a clean, organized bar area throughout the shift.
• Should possess the ability to multitask and be aware of several rail guests' progression through the dining/bar experience.
• Cash handling: Closes out all rail checks in an orderly and timely fashion. Provides the guest with accurate and complete change, coupled with a sincere, "Thank you," and invitation to return.
• Ensures enough glassware in varying sizes and that they are void of fingerprints, spots, or lipstick.
• Greets all guests sitting at the bar or any other guest that may enter the restaurant with whom you might make eye contact.
• Makes pleasant, small talk with guests.
• Washes glassware.
• Uses proper glassware for each beverage served.
• Adheres to company standards, including personal hygiene and appearance.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary
• Must be able to work independently and also as part of a team
• Must have excellent customer service skills
• Must have the ability to multi-task and have excellent organizational skills
• Must be dependable
• Must be willing to go over and above for both customers and co-workers

Qualification Standards

Education:

Required: Any combination of education and experience equivalent provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses or Certificates:

Must be of legal serving age

Computer Skills:

Preferred: Point of Sale System

Experience:

Required: Previous customer service experience

1 to 5 years previous bartending experience

Appearance:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance including hair color.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand for extended periods of time
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction

• Manual dexterity of hands in order to manipulate keyboard and office equipment
• Ability to see within normal parameters
• Ability to hear within normal range
• Ability to move about
• Ability to carry trays weighing up to 30 lbs. Must be able to push and pull weight equaling 100 lbs.
• Manual dexterity of hands to manipulate serving spoons, trays, etc.
• Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
