Bartender
This position requires a highly energetic and customer‑focused bartender to provide excellent service to guests and staff within Kessler Hospitality’s upscale boutique hotels.
Location
Grand Bohemian Lodge, Downtown Greenville, SC – located along the Reedy River, offering a AAA Four Diamond boutique experience with spa, art gallery, and outdoor bar.
Overview
The bartender is responsible for the complete setup of the bar area, mixing of drinks for guests and server staff, maintaining service quality and cleanliness, and controlling liquor inventory to ensure guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Be attentive, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and employees.
- Set up the bar according to hotel standards and ensure guests are served promptly and efficiently.
- Prepare beverages and cocktails according to the hotel’s mixing and presentation standards.
- Serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
- Break down the bar after functions, storing liquor, supplies, and equipment according to the hotel’s standards.
- Follow all state liquor laws.
- Know hotel services and facilities.
- Abide by all hotel policies and safety rules.
- Follow prescribed procedures in serving liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests.
- Respond to guests’ problems, complaints, and accidents.
- Be familiar with all fire exit locations and fire extinguisher locations and know how to operate.
- Ensure that the bar and service areas are kept clean; ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, or experience in hospitality or a related field preferred.
- Flexible and willing to work long hours when required.
- Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests, demonstrating attentiveness and friendliness.
- Excellent listening and clarification skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service‑oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel‑required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards, as scheduling may vary according to hotel needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maximize efforts toward productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as necessary.
- Understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet objectives.
- Cross‑train in other hotel related areas.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
