Job summary

Dory Deli in Newport Beach, CA is seeking skilled Bartenders/Baristas with strong interpersonal skills who put guests first in a high-volume setting. You should be organized, calm, friendly and committed to enlightened hospitality; early morning availability is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities include teamwork, responsible service of alcohol, mixing and serving drinks (including coffee), handling payments, keeping the bar clean and stocked, and counting drawers at opening and closing.

Qualifications

• Be over 21 years old.
• Minimum of 4+ years bartending; bartender schooling is a plus.
• Knowledge of beverage recipes and preparation; craft cocktail and craft beer knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to upsell and provide excellent guest service.

Responsibilities

• Work as a team with all Restaurants’ personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service; maintain safety and sanitation requirements as per Health Department and Restaurant standards.
• Responsible service of alcohol. Verify identification and age requirements of guests. Count number of drinks served.
• Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including coffee drinks for patrons of bar and dining room always following standard recipes. Make suggestions based on guests taste and preferences.
• Maintain a positive atmosphere while building a rapport with guests to create regulars with each interaction. Communicate with guests using making guests feel appreciated and welcomed through your actions.
• Ring drink orders into computer immediately; open and maintain tabs throughout the shift; process payment from guests accurately.
• Keep all areas cleaned, organized and stocked to Restaurant’s standards; restock liquor and garnishments as needed during shift.
• Complete opening side work duties to ensure that the bar is set up and ready for the shift, including counting of the bar drawer. Complete closing side work, including counting of the bar drawer, and ensure that all bar items are stocked, bar area is clean, and glassware is restocked. Wash and sterilize stemware. Must use cutting gloves and follow all safety procedures.
• Other duties as directed.

Qualifications

• Be over 21 years old; possess a minimum of 4+ years bartending; bartender schooling is a plus
• Knowledge of beverage recipes and preparation method; craft cocktail and craft beer knowledge; must be able to suggestively sell food and beverage items.
• Posse or obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) compliance through Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) and California Food Handler’s permit
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment; suggestively sell food and beverage items.
• Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and processing payments; ability to handle cash transactions accurately
• Strong attention to detail, good time management skills, and ability to multi-task
• Customer focused, courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor while providing excellent customer service. Ability to effectively listen to and respond to customer needs; possess excellent communication skills.
• Walks and stands during entire shift; ability to remain stationary for long periods of time; be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
