Job summary

BALBOA BAY CLUB VENTURES LLC in Newport Beach, CA, seeks an experienced Bartender to prepare cocktails and beverages to guest specs, describe items, and upsell. You will work with guests and servers, maintain a clean work area, and ensure prompt, courteous service.

Qualifications

• Bartending experience in a hotel or resort setting preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of wine, beer, liquors, waters and drink preparation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills focused on guest satisfaction.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to learn and use hotel POS computer systems.
• Must be 21+ years old; willing to obtain required certifications as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Prepare beverages quickly and accurately for servers and guests.
• Describe bar items, preparation methods and prices as needed.
• Upsell menu items and specials to increase revenues.
• Serve items promptly and courteously to guests.
• Perform pre/post-shift side work, setup, breakdown, and restock.
• Handle cash and balance the bank at end of shift; manage tips.
• Respond to guest inquiries and special requests; report issues to supervisor.

Job Summary:The Bartender prepares beverages for servers and guests in a speedy, efficient, friendly, and professional manner by following standard recipes for traditional cocktails and specialty drinks.Prepares cocktails and/or beverages to guest specificationsDescribes all bar items; methods of preparation and prices as needed. Must have extensive knowledge of all bar/menu itemsWorks with guests to accommodate special requests and special dietary needsUp sells established menu items or specials to maximize food and beverage revenuesServes menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous mannerPerforms pre and post-shift side work; set-up, breakdown, condiments, roll-ups etcResponds to guest inquiries and special requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction; notifies supervisor of guests' complaints and unusual situationsCash handling/ balance bank at the end of each shift and calculating tip outsServing tables when neededQualifications & Requirements:Bartending experience, preferably in a hotel/resort environment.Possess a strong knowledge of food and beverage preparation, hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Must have extensive knowledge of wine, beer, liquors, waters and drink preparationRequires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfactionAbility to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.Requires ability to learn and use telephone and POS computer systems used at the hotel.Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English to understand instructions, safety rules, and communicate with guests.Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.Shift times are subject to change at any time, based on Department's needs. Must complete TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) alcohol awareness certification as scheduled upon employment.
