Job summary

Kiowa Casino is seeking a bartender to greet guests, learn preferences, recommend items and prepare beverages and food. The role requires a neat appearance and friendly personality, with efficiency and observant behavior to ensure excellent guest service.

SUMMARY

The Bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and/or food items. The bartender will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. To perform successfully, the bartender must have a neat appearance and an engaging, friendly personality. The bartender should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the organization’s policies and procedures, tribal regulations, and all federal/state laws, as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. All Team Members must embrace and deliver Kiowa’s Guest Service Standards to every Guest on every shift, as outlined in Orientation, the Team Member Handbook, SOP’s, and any other related training.
  2. Ensure an exceptional level of service and satisfaction is achieved throughout the properties, exceeding the expectations of external and internal Guests alike in a timely and effective manner.
  3. Answer questions, and make suggestions regarding beverages, food and service.
  4. Take orders and follow procedures when recording sales.
  5. Serve Guests and Beverage Servers within established time limits.
  6. Observe Guests, respond to any additional requests and monitor when beverages are consumed for alcohol safety requirements.
  7. Total the bill, collect payment, and make change.
  8. Clear away empty glasses, bottles, and dishware, as needed.
  9. Change beer kegs as needed.
  10. Prepare mixed drinks in accordance with recipes or dispensing systems.
  11. Maintain inventory of beverages and supplies.
  12. Monitor slot machine play by Guests at the bar and summon slot department personnel as needed to respond to Guest needs (e.g. jackpots, technical problems, )
  13. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation requirements in serving and work areas.
  14. Maintain knowledge of special events, hours of operation, and other pertinent information.
  15. Perform additional duties or projects, as assigned.

Job requirements include ability to lift, move, carry, and balance heavy objects and involve standing and walking for hours at a time.

While performing the job duties, the employee is required to maneuver in all areas of casino and related entity locations when necessary. Ability to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the offices and between buildings or properties for the duration of work hours. Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms, including lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, or boxes, up to 75 pounds. Visual acuity to discern and examine text, graphics, color, and symmetry. Speech to communicate clearly, express ideas and convey information in an understandable manner. Ability to hear for listening comprehension and to understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files. Job may lift, move, carry, and balance heavy objects and involve standing and walking for hours at a time. Must be able to move and maneuver a full keg.

Work Environment

Environment includes exposure to second-hand smoke, high noise level, bright lights, and sometimes fluctuating temperatures or weather conditions. Must be able to work irregular or additional hours or shifts, including holidays or weekends, as assigned, in order to meet business needs.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year experience as a Bartender or certification from a recognized Bartending school or institution is preferred.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver a full keg.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all departments and all team members.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Must maintain a current Food Handlers certification and Alcohol Server Certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Gaming License is required.
  • Key positions require knowledge and application of Title 31 reporting requirements.
  • Must have the ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug test.
