Donohoe Hospitality Services is seeking a Bartender for Hyatt Place National Mall in Washington, DC. You will craft cocktails and wines, greet guests, and deliver friendly service in a fast-paced hotel bar and outlets.

The role includes PM shifts, cross-training across CityBar, Placery and events, and a focus on accuracy, cleanliness, inventory management, and safety standards. Prior bartending experience is required; weekend availability is needed.

Compensation: Salary Range $18.40 - $19.00 per hour. (This is a Part-time position offering 1-2 shifts per week; weekend availability required)

Position Summary

Our Bartenders expertly mix and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests at the bar. This role involves creating a welcoming atmosphere, engaging with guests to understand their preferences, and recommending menu items. Bartenders must ensure that all beverages are prepared to the highest standards and served promptly. They are also responsible for keeping the bar area clean and organized, managing inventory, and following all safety and sanitation guidelines. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. PM shifts required. You will have the opportunity to train & work across multiple food outlets within the hotel: CityBar, Placery and events.

Essential Functions

• Mixes ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks for the bar and restaurant.
• Serves wine, draft or bottled beer, and food to bar guests according to hotel standards.
• Collect payments for drinks served following the hotel's established accounting procedures.
• Respond to guests' needs.
• Guide guests in selecting food and beverage items.
• Merchandise cocktail hours and special events.
• Follow alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication of guests.
• Follow alcohol awareness procedures for handling an intoxicated guest.
• Prepares drinks and verifies correct pricing.
• Assist servers with bar knowledge.
• Cleans, sanitizes, restocks, and stores bar items according to procedures.
• Secures all money at the end of each shift.
• Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
• Serves bar menu food according to hotel standards.
• Responsible for proper storage of alcohol.
• Responsible for cleaning bar service and guest areas.
• Reports maintenance issues to immediate supervisor.
• Requisitions alcohol and bar food according to hotel standards.

Additional Responsibilities

• Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the hotel, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
• The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands, and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
• Cross-training across multiple outlets: CityBar, Placery, and banquet events

Education and Experience

• Prior bartending experience required.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work in an outdoor environment, which includes typical spring and summer conditions.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Good knowledge of liquor and preparation methods.
