Job summary

Village On The Isle in Venice, FL is seeking a full-time bartender to prepare and serve beverages and food in the Brezza bar, dining area and kitchen, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for residents, families and guests.

Reporting to the Assistant Culinary & Dining Director, you will provide attentive service, maintain safety standards, and support opening/closing procedures as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bartending certification preferred or required to obtain within 6 months.
• At least two years of relevant work experience.
• Strong customer service abilities; actively assists customers and team members.
• Basic point-of-sale and cash handling knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets residents and guests, takes beverage and food orders.
• Explains menu items and prepares orders for service.
• Submits orders into the kitchen using a POS system.

Reporting to the Assistant Culinary & Dining Director, the Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages and food in a friendly, courteous manner, and performing a variety of duties in and around the Brezza bar, dining area and kitchen in order to enhance the customers' experience, in accordance with the company’s mission and values. The bartender’s role includes providing warm, attentive beverage service in in all areas of the Brezza dining venue while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable atmosphere for residents, family members, and guests. The bartender must provide excellent service ensuring level of service meets the Village On The Isle’s standards. The bartender respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. The bartender will assist leadership in motivating employees, instilling accountability, and achieving results to drive success in the position. This is a safety sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Greets residents and guests in a polite, positive manner; takes beverage and food orders.
• Answers questions about the menu and takes food orders. Explains how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients, and cooking methods. Suggest any menu item.
• Submits food order into kitchen accurately utilizing a Point-of-Sale system
• Serves residents and guests in a friendly, efficient manner to maintain a pleasant dining experience. Checks on residents and guests periodically and attends to their needs.
• Performs clean-up duties after each shift; and, stocks bar and prepares for shift.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Assists in assigning specific jobs and spot checking to ensure standards are met.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards.
• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
• Responds to resident inquiries and resolves residents’ complaints or escalates as appropriate.
• Assists in supervising opening and closing procedures.
• Trains new employees as necessary.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended period of time; entire work day.
• Withstanding temperature changes indoor/outside and poolside.
• Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
• Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
• Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in fast-paced kitchen.

QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Strong sanitation habits.
• Bartending or responsible alcohol-service certification is preferred or required to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Basic point-of-sale and cash-handling knowledge preferred.
• Ability to work independently while remaining part of the overall culinary/dining team.
• Previous bartending or restaurant beverage-service experience preferred.
• Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and team members.
• Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and resolve or escape to management as required.
• At least two years of relevant work experience required.
