Job Title: Bartender
Location: Union Station Curio – St Louis, MO 63103
Type: Part Time

Position Summary

Prepare and serve beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner while acting as cashier for the bar area.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper bar set‑up each day: stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, condiments, and produce based on projected guest occupancy.
• Manage stock of fresh garnishes, juices, and perishables using FIFO and product dating.
• Greet guests with courtesy, address by name, promote and upsell food and liquor, and mix drinks per standard recipes to Marriott standards.
• Input orders into point‑of‑sale register, create checks, maintain accurate records of beverage sales, and process cash, credit, and voucher transactions.
• Secure all beverage, food, and equipment, deposit cash and vouchers, and reconcile bank deposits.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and debris‑free work area following the “Clean as you go” method.
• Verify guest identification to confirm age requirements before alcohol sale.
• Provide guests with information about the property, its history, and local area knowledge.

Supportive Functions

• Perform general cleaning tasks with standard cleaning products as assigned to maintain health standards.
• Assist with special guest requests, cross‑training, and other duties as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations, including serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated guests.
• Aid security with disorderly guests and report suspicious activity promptly.
• Attend required meetings, stay punctual, and maintain regular attendance.

Qualifications

• Bartending experience required.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Basic English writing skills for requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
• Manual dexterity for garnish preparation, glassware handling, and stock retrieval.

• Strong reading, speaking, and understanding of English for guest communication.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
