Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a bartender to deliver high-quality beverage service across hotel outlets. You will set-up, serve, and breakdown the bar, ensuring consistency and guest satisfaction during every shift.

You will greet guests, suggest beverages, check IDs, handle cash, balance the register, and help maintain a clean bar area. Training and development opportunities accompany competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server's Permit required.
  • Prior MICROS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers, determine beverage preferences, and take drink orders.
  • Plan drink menus and inform customers about beverages and specials.
  • Mix ingredients, garnish glasses, and serve beverages.
  • Check IDs to ensure legal drinking age.
  • Take inventory and order supplies to keep bars stocked.
  • Maintain clean work and dining areas; wash glasses and equipment.
  • Develop new cocktail recipes and may work in other hotel outlets.
  • Deliver passionate, engaging service and build guest relations.

Job Description Summary

The Bartender is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. The bartender sets-up, services, and breaks-down the bar area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency and service.

Job Description
Key Job Functions
  • Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
  • Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
  • Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
  • Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
  • Developing new cocktail recipes.
  • This position has the possibility of working in all other outlets in the hotel.

Qualifications And Skills
  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience.
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates.
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Prior experience with MICROS a plus.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server's Permit required
