Job summary

Crooked Hammock Brewery in Lewes, DE is seeking a bartender who brings personality, hospitality and beer knowledge to the bar. You’ll welcome guests, craft drinks and help ensure every visit feels like a backyard gathering.

Know our beer lineup and confidently help guests find a brew they’ll love. You’ll prepare beer and cocktails, take orders into the POS, stay engaged with guests, and cooperate with servers, barbacks and kitchen staff to keep service smooth.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• One year of experience in a fast-paced restaurant.
• Advanced knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
• Ability to stand for long periods (up to 6 hours) and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with genuine hospitality.
• Create memorable experiences by connecting with guests and recognizing regulars.
• Know Crooked Hammock beer and help guests find a brew they’ll love.
• Know food, cocktail and beverage menus and make recommendations.
• Prepare and serve beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages to standard recipes.
• Enter orders accurately into the POS system.
• Stay engaged with guests throughout their visit and anticipate needs.
• Follow policies for responsible alcohol service and involve a manager when appropriate.
• Keep the bar clean, stocked and ready for service.
• Prepare garnishes, juices, and other bar items.
• Restock beer, liquor, glassware, and supplies.
• Handle guest checks, cash and transactions.
• Clear and reset the bar for the next shift.
• Stay up to date on brewery events and promotions.
• Complete opening, closing and side work as assigned.
• Communicate equipment or product issues to management.
• Work with servers, barbacks, hosts, kitchen staff and managers to keep service running.
• Jump in wherever needed and contribute to the team.
• Represent Crooked Hammock Brewery with pride.

Summary of Position: At Crooked Hammock Brewery, we believe some of the best memories are made with a cold drink in hand, good people around you and nowhere else you need to be. Our Bartenders help bring that feeling to life every day. Behind the bar, you’ll be part beer expert, part cocktail maker and a big part of what makes the Hammock feel like the Hammock. You’ll introduce guests to the beers we brew, mix up their favorite drinks, remember the regulars and help first-timers feel like they’ve been hanging in our backyard for years. It’s about more than what’s in the glass — it’s creating the kind of experience that makes people want to stay for another round and come back to do it all over again. We’re looking for Bartenders who bring personality, confidence and genuine hospitality to the bar. You should know how to keep things moving when the backyard gets busy, take pride in what you serve and understand that great hospitality is a team effort. Duties & Responsibilities

• Welcome every guest into our backyard with genuine, friendly and attentive hospitality
• Create memorable experiences by connecting with guests, recognizing our regulars and making new guests feel right at home
• Know Crooked Hammock beer — from our core lineup to seasonal and rotating releases — and confidently help guests find a brew they’ll love
• Know our food, cocktail and beverage menus and make thoughtful recommendations based on each guest’s preferences
• Prepare and serve beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and consistently according to established recipes and standards
• Take food and beverage orders and enter them accurately and efficiently into the point-of-sale system
• Stay engaged with guests throughout their visit, anticipate needs and make sure they have everything they need to kick back and enjoy their time with us
• Follow all company policies and state regulations for responsible alcohol service, including recognizing signs of intoxication and involving a manager when appropriate
• Keep the bar clean, organized, stocked and ready for whatever the day brings
• Prepare garnishes, juices, mixes and other bar items needed for service
• Restock beer, liquor, glassware and supplies throughout the shift and communicate inventory needs when necessary
• Properly handle guest checks, cash and credit card transactions
• Clear, clean and reset the bar so it’s ready for the next crew to pull up a seat
• Stay up to date on brewery events, beer releases, promotions and everything happening around the Hammock so you can share the fun with our guests
• Complete opening, closing and assigned side work thoroughly
• Communicate equipment, maintenance or product issues to management
• Work closely with servers, barbacks, hosts, kitchen team members and managers to keep service running smoothly
• Jump in wherever needed and contribute to the team-first mentality that keeps our backyard running
• Represent Crooked Hammock Brewery with pride and help create the kind of experiences our guests will remember long after they leave

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Have at least one year of experience, preferably at a fast paced restaurant.
• Have advanced knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
• Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 6 hours).
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Must be eligible to work in the United States

Pay & Perks

This position pays $2.23/hour + tips.
