Job summary

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is seeking a bartender to prepare alcoholic beverages, take orders, and deliver full service to guests and venue servers. You will interact with guests, team members, and supervisors to ensure gracious hospitality for casino patrons.

You will maintain a clean bar, stock supplies, enter items into the POS, and comply with sanitation and gaming policies. The ideal candidate loves people, communicates clearly, has a valid Food Service Handler Card and TABC certification, and

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Clear verbal and written English communication.
• Food Service Handler Card and valid TABC certification (minimum 6 months).
• Preferred: 1–2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge.

Job description

This position is responsible for preparing all alcoholic beverages for guests and venue servers, actively taking orders, conducting full and complete food and beverage service, and monitoring guests' bar and dining experience. Bartenders must also interact with bar guests, employees, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality for casino patrons at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Requirements

• Must love people and have a passion for serving others and the community
• Preparation will be key. Prep the bar daily, maintain it during the shift and clean it nightly in preparation for the next shift
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment including stocking of supplies, washing and polishing glassware, folding napkins, cleaning menus, sanitizing tables, etc.
• Stock the bar as necessary in accordance with company guidelines regarding liquor requisition
• Adhere to company standards regarding food and beverage knowledge
• Orchestrate an extraordinary guest experience through positive guest interaction
• Be able to guide guests through aspects of our hotel and our city
• Ensure that guests are of legal drinking age by asking for an appropriate ID card
• Handle a cash bank and adhere to company policies regarding money handling
• Accurately enter all items into POS system and charge guests accordingly
• Comply with sanitation standards and notify management of any issue
• Comply with gaming comps, established gaming criteria, procedures, and policies

MUST HAVE'S

• Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
• High school or equivalent education required
• Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
• Food Service Handler Card and TABC certification that is currently valid for a minimum of at least 6 months
• Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge

• Learn and sell extensive food menu and beverage list
• Must enjoy being around and working with people
• Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
• Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance

THE WORKING CONDITIONS

• Lift and carry 50 lbs., carry and balance plates, carry kegs, wine and beer cases as necessary and move carts that weigh up to 100 pounds
• Stand and walk for periods of 8-10 hours. Proper footwear is required
• Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
• Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, sunlight, smoke, and sound. Incumbents are at times subject to hazards such as chemicals; proper safety precautions will be taken. This position typically works outside and is subject to all weather. Proper clothing is provided
