Job summary

Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, KS, is seeking a Bartender for a seasonal, part-time role. The ideal candidate will craft cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering exceptional service, knowledge of the menu, and strong presentation.

In addition to drink preparation, responsibilities include maintaining bar cleanliness, managing stock, and supporting events. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in bartending in upscale or country club settings preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Cocktail preparation for a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency and presentation.
• Provide friendly, attentive service; take drink orders, make recommendations, address inquiries.
• Demonstrate mixology knowledge and create signature drinks per club standards.
• Comprehensive beverage knowledge and assistance to patrons in selecting drinks.
• Maintain a clean, organized bar area; stock, restock, and ensure safety/sanitation.
• Accommodate special requests and dietary preferences while adjusting drinks.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service, enforce age restrictions, handle intoxicated patrons discreetly.
• Monitor inventory and assist with bar supplies, orders, and stock levels.
• Collaborate with Bar Manager and Events Director to service club events and banquets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Cocktail Preparation: Prepare a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation meet high standards.
• Customer Service: Provide friendly, attentive, and personalized service to members and guests, including taking drink orders, offering recommendations, and addressing inquiries.
• Mixology: Demonstrate expert knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, and the ability to create signature drinks in accordance with the country club's style and standards.
• Beverage Knowledge: Possess a comprehensive understanding of the beverage menu, including wine, spirits, and beers, and assist patrons in making informed choices.
• Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including stocking supplies, restocking inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• Customization: Accommodate special requests and dietary preferences, adjusting cocktails and drinks as needed.
• Responsibility: Ensure the responsible service of alcohol, adhere to age restrictions, and handle any issues related to intoxicated or disruptive patrons discreetly.
• Bar Inventory: Assist with the monitoring of inventory levels, restocking, and placing orders for bar supplies, ensuring adequate stock at all times.
• Event Support: Collaborate with the Bar Manager and Director of Events to provide beverage service for club events, banquets, and private parties.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous bartending experience in similar upscale or country club setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of beverage preparation and mixology, including classic cocktails and modern trends.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.
• Ability to effectively and professionally deal with members, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger
• Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and safety regulations.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS – ABILITY TO:

• Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk frequently; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Ability to perform the duties of this job while exposed to outside weather conditions (on occasion).
• Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly
