Bartender Job Summary

The bartender at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is responsible for serving patrons in an accurate and timely fashion at various bars and venues throughout SVPH while consistently delivering a high level of customer service. This position will be responsible for maintaining a stocked and clean environment in accordance with SVPH and Mercer County Health Standards. The Bartender maintains an accurate cash drawer throughout the service shift and is accountable it and is responsible for expressing creativity in developing specialty cocktails, and maintaining recipe standards and accurate pours on all spirits.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Greet and serve guests in in a courteous and timely manner
• Check IDs and maintain a safe environment by being aware of patrons consumption
• Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving cocktails.
• Mix all cocktails according to recipe and serving size; utilize proper glassware
• Proper cash handling; Proper handling of credit card processing with an iPad and square attachment
• Maintain an efficient and clean, and stocked bar
• Becomes proficient in setting up and breaking down the Music Bar, The trustee’s service bar, and all catered event bars
• Assists with the development and serving of specialty cocktails for bars and Fresh Food Adventures
• Proper storage and service of wine.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Qualifications

• Possesses a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a full-service bartender.
• Demonstrate strong passion and motivation to create and serve excellent beverages
• Show ability to prepare and execute cocktails to recipe standards
• Knowledge of wines, distilled spirits, beer styles and the proper service of them.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required
• Serve Safe certified
• Certification as a mixologist from a certified bartending School preferred

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Available to work any shift as needed, including weekends and Holidays

Mental and Physical Requirements

• Must be capable of standing for long periods
• Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds
• Must have excellent manual dexterity

Working Environment and Conditions

• Frequent exposure to the outdoors and fluctuating temperatures while working
• Working in close quarters, standing for hours at a time
• Frequent hauling and lifting of cases of wine, beer and distilled spirits
• Working hours to include late nights, weekends and holidays
