Job summary

American Signal Equipment, a Helix Traffic Solutions member, is hiring a Barricade Technician to support field operations in traffic control and work zone setup. The role involves installing and maintaining barricades, cones, signs, and related equipment while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Candidates should be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate with a strong safety mindset. Training and certification may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in traffic control, construction, roadway, or outdoor labor preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on assignment.
• Must be able to successfully complete any required company training.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and remove barricades, cones, drums, signs, arrow boards, and other traffic control devices.
• Set up and maintain work zones in accordance with traffic control plans, company procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Conduct routine inspections of traffic control devices and make adjustments or replacements as needed.
• Load, unload, transport, and organize traffic control equipment and materials.
• Assist with lane closures, detours, and other temporary traffic control operations.
• Work safely around moving traffic, construction equipment, and other jobsite hazards.
• Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and other personnel regarding work zone activities.
• Maintain assigned equipment, vehicles, and tools in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
• Complete required paperwork, inspections, and other documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Barricade Technician

Job Summary

The Barricade Technician is responsible for safely setting up, maintaining, and removing traffic control devices and work zone equipment in accordance with project plans, company standards, and applicable safety regulations. This role supports field operations by ensuring work zones are properly established and maintained to protect workers, motorists, pedestrians, and the public.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work for extended periods.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry traffic control equipment and materials, including items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work safely in and around active roadways, construction zones, and moving vehicles.
• Work may require early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and varying schedules based on project needs.
