Job summary

Greystone of Lincoln is seeking a 2nd Shift Defense Barrel Plater to apply coatings and finishes to gun barrels, ensuring top quality and adherence to safety standards. You will prep barrels, perform electroplating, inspect finished parts, maintain plating equipment, and document processes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical education in plating/surface finishing preferred.
  • Proven experience in electroplating or plating techniques, preferably in firearms manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of plating materials, chemicals, surface prep, coating selection and QC.
  • Attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling gun barrels and applying coatings precisely.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare gun barrels for plating by cleaning, degreasing, and removing coatings or impurities.
  • Apply specialized coatings and finishes to gun barrels using electroplating or other plating methods.
  • Conduct inspections for adhesion, corrosion resistance and hardness.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot plating equipment; calibrate and coordinate repairs.
  • Follow safety protocols when handling hazardous chemicals and regulated processes.
  • Record process parameters and inspection results; generate reports for process improvement.

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to apply various coatings and finishes to gun barrels, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for firearms and a strong background in plating and surface finishing processes. Hours - 3PM-12AM

Responsibilities
  • Prepare gun barrels for plating by cleaning, degreasing, and removing any existing coatings or impurities using abrasive materials, solvents, and cleaning agents.
  • Apply specialized coatings and finishes to gun barrels using electroplating or other plating methods, ensuring the correct plating solution and process parameters are used.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of plated gun barrels to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, including tests for adhesion, corrosion resistance, and hardness.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot plating equipment and tools, performing regular calibrations and coordinating with maintenance personnel for repairs when necessary.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines while working with hazardous chemicals, plating equipment, and firearms, following all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of plating processes, including process parameters, inspection results, and any deviations from specifications, and generate reports for process improvement.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in plating, surface finishing, or a related field are preferred.
  • Proven experience in electroplating or other plating techniques, preferably in a firearms manufacturing or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of plating materials, chemicals, and processes, including surface preparation, coating selection, and quality control.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling delicate gun barrels and applying coatings precisely.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining plating equipment, such as rectifiers, tanks, filters, and chemical pumps.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work in a controlled and regulated environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and report any issues or findings.
