Job summary

Plant City Ranch in Plant City, FL is seeking a Barn Manager to oversee the daily care of horses and livestock, manage barn operations, and lead a team of staff and volunteers. You will ensure proper feeding, turnout, grooming, and health monitoring while maintaining clean, safe barns and pastures.

This role requires coordinating veterinary and farrier services, implementing farm safety procedures, and supporting educational programs for veterans and youth.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Oversee daily care of horses, cows, goats, and chickens, including feeding, watering, turnout, grooming, stall cleaning, and health monitoring.
• Maintain barns, pens, pastures, equipment, and storage areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety.
• Monitor animal behavior and welfare; coordinate veterinary visits, farrier services, vaccinations, and routine health checks.
• Manage feed, bedding, supplements, and supply inventory; place orders and track usage.
• Train and supervise ranch staff, volunteers, and program participants in safe animal handling and barn procedures.
• Collaborate with program leaders to support therapeutic and educational activities for veterans and youth with special needs.
• Implement safety protocols to protect animals, staff, and participants in all areas of the ranch.
• Develop and maintain daily schedules, chore lists, and care logs.
• Identify and address facility maintenance needs; coordinate with vendors or maintenance teams as required.
