Job summary

Kohler Co. Woodlake Market in Kohler, WI is seeking a friendly Barista to greet guests, prepare coffee and smoothies, upsell add-ons, and maintain a clean, welcoming cafe environment.

You will operate espresso machines and blenders, handle cash and card transactions, assist with inventory, and participate in daily opening and closing duties. Weekends are required; 18+ years old; prior coffee experience preferred.

• Learn2Serve Certification preferred
• Previous experience with some food preparation preferred
• Strong communication, time management, and attention to detail needed
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Food Safety Certification Preferred, Bartending License Preferred
• Customer Service Experience Preferred

Responsibilities

• Greets guests with enthusiasm, presents menu and takes orders accurately.
• Suggests food and beverages, upselling supplements and smoothie add-ons.
• Processes payment transactions for guests.
• Communicates effectively with guests and answers questions.
• Monitors guest satisfaction and performs service recovery as needed.
• Responds to guest questions regarding menu and supplements.
• Operates cafe equipment including espresso machines and Vitamix blenders.
• Assists with stocking, inventory, and maintaining parity stock levels.
• Follows cafe SOPs, opening and closing checklists.
• Assists Café Coordinator with R&D of monthly drinks and smoothie specials.
• Displays products attractively and maintains cleanliness.
• Cross-trains in back-of-house operations including juicing as needed.
• Completes tasks promptly as assigned by leadership.
• Must obtain food safety certification if not already certified.

Opportunity

Specific Responsibilities:

• Greets guests with enthusiasm, present them with the menu and take guest orders accurately.
• Suggest food and beverages to the guest utilizing appropriate methods to upsell, to include the health benefits of supplements and superfood smoothie add ons.
• Process payment transactions for internal and external guests in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively to the guest and aid with questions.
• Observe guests and ensure their satisfaction with the food and service. Provide service recovery if necessary and involve appropriate leadership when needed.
• Promptly respond to guests with any additional request or questions regarding menu or supplement offerings.
• Understands and can communicate products and services available at the resort to the guest.
• Assist with stocking, dry goods inventory levels and maintaining the restaurant par stock levels and side station at respected location.
• Utilize all café SOP’s and follow opening and closing checklists consistently.
• Assist Café Coordinator with R&D of monthly drinks specials and monthly smoothie specials at respected location.
• Operate all café equipment to include espresso machine, coffee brewer, Vitamix blenders, espresso grinders, cold-brew + nitro taps.
• Prepare and present beverages according to established recipe and presentation standards.
• Serve prepared food items.
• Understand the health benefits that fruits and vegetables provide.
• Collect and process payments from the customer including cash, credit/debit cards and gift cards.
• Maintain clean and hygienic work area.
• Dismantle and clean machinery daily to uphold sanitary standards.
• Display merchandise and supplements in an aesthetic and functional manner.
• Monitor and order inventory if/when needed.
• Complete opening and closing duties for each shift.
• Cross train in back of house operations to include juicing operations if/when needed.
• Complete all tasks as assigned by leadership in a timely manner.
• Must obtain food safety certification if not certified already.

This is a part time position at Woodlake Market. Shifts will vary on weekdays and weekends varying between 5:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Skills/Requirements

The hourly range for this position is $12.00 - $16.50 plus tips/gratuity. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
