Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a friendly Barista to prepare hot and cold specialty drinks in accordance with established recipes and procedures.

You will maintain quality and safety, operate the POS, stock areas, and support a clean, welcoming food service environment. Required to work every other weekend and holidays.

Strong customer service and reliability are essential; on-the-job training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Customer service or food service experience preferred.
• On job training will be provided.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares hot and cold specialty drinks in accordance with established procedures and recipes.
• Ensures and maintains proper food quality and temperature.
• Prepares, serves, and merchandises menu items in a manner that best enhances the products and adheres to all dietary restrictions.
• Operates POS while following cash handling policy and procedures.
• Stocks assigned areas as directed.
• Assists with general sanitation of food service department including: wiping walls, cleaning equipment, working in the dish room, emptying trash cans etc
• Cleans and maintains work area at all times.
• Demonstrates Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
• Demonstrates performance improvement in Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety as appropriate.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares hot and cold specialty drinks in accordance with established procedures and recipes
• Ensures and maintains proper food quality and temperature
• Prepares, serves, and merchandises menu items in a manner that best enhances the products and adheres to all dietary restrictions
• Ensures that all menus are posted in the proper areas and that changes to the menus have been communicated to the responsible individuals
• Operates POS while following cash handling policy and procedures
• Stocks assigned areas as directed
• Assists with general sanitation of food service department including: wiping walls, cleaning equipment, working in the dish room, emptying trash cans etc
• Cleans and maintains work area at all times
• Completes special cleaning projects as assigned
• Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
• Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
• Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
• Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
• Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
• Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
• Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Walking for up to 7 hours, 30 minutes at a time; sitting for up to 1 hour at a time and standing up to 1 ½ hours for 30 minutes at a time. Frequently uses handling and occasionally twisting/turning, lifting (1-50 lb.), carrying (1-50 lb.), pushing (1-50 lb.), and pulling (1-50 lb.). When performing essential functions, occasionally involves with stooping/bending, climbing, reaching above shoulder level. Employee must have the ability to hear normal conversation, have general vision, far vision, and peripheral vision.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Customer service and/or food service experience preferred, but not necessary. On job training will be provided.
