• Manage supplier orders to keep beverages, food, and shop items stocked.
• Provide feedback for performance improvement and work with GM on coaching.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Barista to join our team at Just Love Coffee & Café at Fair Oaks Mall in Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for executing high-end bar operations, ensuring the front of the house runs quickly and smoothly, and serving as the face of our cafe by crafting exceptional specialty beverages and delivering warm hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

• Beverage & Station Excellence: Expertly grind, tamp, and pull espresso shots, steam and texture milk, dial in grinders daily, and craft specialty coffee drinks to exact recipe standards.
• Station Maintenance & Facility Upkeep: Keep the dining area, bar area, espresso machine, grinders, and counters impeccably clean, sanitized, and fully stocked throughout your shift, while conducting regular hourly checks of the single restroom and front-of-house to ensure touchpoints are sanitized, supplies are replenished, and the environment remains spotless for guests.
• Guest Service & Engagement: Greet customers enthusiastically, guide them through our menu, engage with guests to understand their needs, take accurate orders, and process payments efficiently using the POS system.
• Inventory Management: Manage the suppliers ordering process to ensure all beverage, food, retail, and paper items remain stocked in needed quantities for service.
• Performance Management: Provide actionable feedback where performance does not meet Just Love standards, continually develop leadership skills, and elevate uncorrected behaviors to the General Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience working in a high-volume specialty coffee shop or cafe.
• Deep foundational knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing techniques, and coffee equipment maintenance.
• Strong multitasking skills with the ability to maintain composure, accuracy, and targeted ticket times during peak morning rushes.
• Interest and ability to learn quickly and apply what you have learned with energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for Just Love Coffee Cafe.
• Coachable, teachable, team-oriented mindset with high integrity, honesty, and strong work habits.
• Dependable team player with flexible availability for morning, weekend, and evening shifts.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds.

Expectations & Benchmarks

• Running successful shifts and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, including food.
• Generating sales growth by consistently delivering a positive guest experience and executing local restaurant marketing and catering initiatives.
• Initiating corrective actions promptly when there are guest issues or performance gaps.

Employment Details

• Reports to: General Manager
• Employment Status: At-Will employment. Your first 90 days serve as an evaluation period, and either you or the company may terminate employment for any reason at any time.
• Training: You will be provided with a written training manual and a logical progression training outline to ensure proper orientation into our processes and procedures.
• Compensation: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour, plus tips paid bi-weekly on every other Friday.
• Tips: Our cafe utilizes tip pooling for our barista and cook employees.
• Hours of Operations: Monday – Sunday: 7:30 AM – 8:30 PM
