Job summary

Eataly in Millburn is seeking a Barista to craft specialty beverages and provide exceptional customer service across multiple QSR counters. You will learn Eataly’s coffee recipes, manage fast-paced service, and ensure accuracy in orders while upholding hygiene standards.

The role requires knowledge of coffee, strong guest services skills, and the ability to handle high volume with a calm demeanor. Onsite work with flexible early mornings, evenings, and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about coffee, tea and drinks.
• Excellent guest service and communication skills.
• Able to perform basic math and follow production directions.
• 1+ year barista experience with manual espresso machines preferred.
• High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve authentic espresso, coffee and café drinks at multiple counters.
• Provide guests with service and product details (blend, preparation).
• Set up stations and maintain neat displays, including allergen separation.
• Ensure FIFO and proper dating of items.
• Operate POS system with accuracy.
• Maintain cleanliness and health standards across stations.
• Work across QSR counters serving pastry, gelato, pizza and other items.
• Handle high-volume periods calmly and efficiently.

Job Description

A Barista creates and serves specialty hot and cold beverages according to Eataly’s recipes and guests’ special requests. A Barista is knowledgeable about all coffee menu items, provides high-quality, fast-paced service and is able to work at multiple Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) counters performing various functions. Reports to the QSR Manager and leads.

• Prepares and serves authentic Italian espresso, coffee and other café drinks at multiple counters
• Provides guests with exceptional service and product details, such as coffee blend or preparation description
• Sets up stations and replenishes displays neatly including separation of allergens (nuts, wheat, etc.)
• Ensures all items are dated and following First in First Out (FIFO) standards
• Weighs, grinds or packs coffee beans for guests according to their specifications
• Operates the Point of Sales (POS) system ensuring accuracy of cash drops and authenticity of bills
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas in accordance with supervising health agency of the area
• Works across all QSR counters serving pastry, gelato, pizza and other Italian delicacies
• Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about coffee, tea and drink preparation, and product
• Outstanding communication and guest service skills
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow directions for all production
• 1+ year barista experience on a manual espresso machine preferred
• High school diploma preferred

Job Requirements

• Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including early mornings, evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
• Ability to operate equipment such as manual espresso machine, ovens, drink blender, juicer and Point of Sale
• Dexterity for rapid and consistent espresso creation

Compensation:

This position pays a base rate of $17-$18 per hour + tips.
