Responsibilities

• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department to respond to questions and suggest products.
• Collaborate with associates to promote teamwork and achieve store goals.
• Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customer requests using proper equipment; tender transactions according to company practices.
• Offer product samples and inform customers of coffee shop specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend coffee shop items to meet customer needs and preferences.
• Use coffee shop equipment and inventory ingredients according to guidelines.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates; take appropriate action.
• Operate espresso machines, blenders, scales and steamers as needed.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Follow safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions; report to management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Work cooperatively in fast-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflicts in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
