Job summary

John Knox Village is seeking a hospitality-focused team member for The Coffee Shoppe and Courtyard Café dining areas. You will serve guests, prepare beverages, assist with light food prep, describe menu items, and maintain display stock while upholding safety and PRIDE values.

Must be 16+ years old with a high-school diploma or GED and the ability to obtain a Food Handler Permit within 15 days. Military or community service experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work with a large group of residents and customers.
• Basic cash handling and cash register operation knowledge.
• Experience in a restaurant or coffee shop preferred.
• Awareness of cost control within the department.
• Ability to work irregular hours.
• Ability to read and follow simple instructions and memos.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic including two-digit numbers and multiples of 10/100.
• Ability to taste and/or smell as part of food/beverage service.
• Ability to use common sense to carry out straightforward tasks.

Responsibilities

• Serves guests in The Coffee Shoppe and Dining Area.
• Prepares hot and cold beverages (coffee, espresso, blended drinks, shakes, teas).
• Prepares light food items and assists with food service.
• Describes and suggests menu items to guests.
• Maintains quality, stock, and rotation of products in displays and ice cream freezers.
• Checks temperatures of freezers, fridge and display cases for proper function.
• cleans and sanitizes utensils and dining areas.
• Work independently and solve problems without direct supervision.
• Observes residents and responds to additional needs; supports PRIDE values.
• Restocks Coffee Shoppe inventory and supplies as needed.
