Job summary

Joe Coffee is seeking Baristas in Training (BITs) who are curious and committed to learning about specialty coffee and growing into certified Joe Coffee baristas. You will support daily cafe operations while building foundational skills to become a certified Joe Coffee barista.

The role emphasizes welcoming service, training, and collaboration in a fast-paced cafe environment, with compensation of $17 per hour plus tips. Growth opportunities and hands-on learning are integral to this position.

Qualifications

• Prior coffee shop, food service, retail, or hospitality experience is desirable but not required.
• Curious and committed to learning about specialty coffee and growing into certified barista.
• Able to deliver warm, thoughtful customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver welcoming, inclusive, and attentive customer service that reflects Joe Coffee’s hospitality standards.
• Accurately operate the POS system, including order entry, cash handling, and payment processing.
• Prepare non-espresso beverages and food items according to recipes and quality standards.
• Maintain cafe cleanliness, organization, and food safety by following cleaning, sanitation, and food-handling standards.
• Restock products, ingredients, and cafe supplies throughout the shift.
• Support opening, closing, and daily cafe procedures as assigned.
• Work collaboratively with team members to maintain an efficient, welcoming environment.
• Participate in training, coaching, and feedback to build coffee knowledge and skills for barista certification.
• Follow Joe Coffee policies, procedures, recipes, safety practices, and quality standards.
