Job Summary

Kobrick Coffee Co.'s NYC Meatpacking District Flagship Cafe, Restaurant, & Bar (104 years old, Est. Lower Manhattan, NYC 1920, now roasting in Hoboken, NJ) is seeking both full-time and part-time dedicated Baristas to join us at our unique 9th Avenue & 13th Street venue. We've been a legendary neighborhood favorite since 2015.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing a wide array of masterful coffee-based and popular beverages, served with warmth and hospitality rewarded by effusive praise from our large community of loyal customers. Our drink menu contains both well-known and unique proprietary offerings. We need your enthusiasm and thirst for higher craft to help our team shine above all others in this artsy, upscale neighborhood.

In addition to the experienced, we are open to training talented, enthusiastic culinary students on their way to becoming seasoned professionals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Execute all beverages on our menu with accuracy and further attention to any special customer request.
  2. Place customer experience, service, and satisfaction at the top of your agenda.
  3. Be unyielding in your commitment to organization, routine responsibilities, and rigorous cleanliness standards.
  4. Meet or train to meet exceptionally high standards for quality and latte art.
  5. Supervise and delegate tasks to other team members, when appropriate.
  6. Assist other employees with their tasks whenever possible.
  7. Maintain proper levels of inventory and restock when necessary.
  8. Help maintain all areas in a neat, clean condition for customer well-being and employee morale.
  9. Meticulously follow all food safety regulations.
  10. Maintain an immaculate workspace.
  11. Pay strict attention to record-keeping and inventory controls.
  12. Handle cash with precision and manage draw opening/closing responsibilities.
  13. Balance the demands of the customer, the company, and your co-workers.
  14. Contribute positively to the Team Spirit encouraged by our company culture.
  15. Knowledge of Square POS helpful.
  16. Participate in unique and exciting special trainings from time to time to enhance your skills.
  17. Be punctual, professional, and disciplined.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous barista experience greatly preferred, especially at demanding, higher-end venues, and where Manual Espresso Machines are in use.
  2. Extensive Customer Service experience and skills.
  3. Advanced knowledge of milk steaming, dialing in, latte art, espresso machine maintenance, and other related skills desirable.
  4. Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure.
  5. Excellent time management skills.
  6. Strong leadership skills.
  7. Team mentality and strong work ethic.
  8. Punctuality essential.
  9. Multi-lingual/ASL always welcome, but not required.
  10. First-Aid Certification and Skills valued.
  11. NYC DOH Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain one within one month of hiring) is a must.
  12. Certification from culinary school or other reputable organization preferred.
  13. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
