Job Summary and Qualifications

The primary objective of the Bariatric Financial Coordinator (BFC) is to consistently and accurately validate patient demographic information, verify insurance benefits, determine copays and out of pocket expenses and communicate accurately to patients. The Bariatric Financial Coordinator functions as a member of the TriStar Centennial Center for Weight Management team, focused on providing optimal customer service to patients that are pursing weight management and/or bariatric surgery. The BFC serves as the intake processor for all TriStar Centennial Center for Weight Management leads, works collaboratively with hospital based Bariatric teams and performs on-going communication with patients, providers & insurers to satisfy predetermination requirements for bariatric surgery. The BFC is responsible for providing patients with timely follow-up, connecting with hospital-based teams and/or surgeon clinics to communicate updates to patient accounts. The Bariatric Financial Coordinator completes financial analysis of accounts, providing teams with estimated financially liable amounts, both at the initial time of interest and at the time of services. The Bariatric Financial Coordinator assists in the implementation of program goals and standards of practice.

What qualifications you will need:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a physician front office /hospital patient access setting.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with insurance procedures/terminology and patient interactions
• Experience obtaining authorizations/predeterminations
• Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, physicians and facility staff
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• PC skills –advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, financial reports
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. May be substituted for work experience.
