Job summary

Southern Devall is seeking a Barge Quality Inspector in Houston, TX to oversee tank barge safety, cleanliness, reliability, and regulatory compliance. This field-based role requires travel to docks, terminals, ports, and marine facilities along the Gulf Coast.

You will inspect, evaluate, and document barge conditions; coordinate repairs with engineering and operations; and ensure cargo systems meet customer specifications and operational requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Current Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and endorsements.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain one immediately.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel to docks, terminals and marine facilities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, evaluate, maintain, and document the condition of tank barges.
• Identify deficiencies and coordinate repairs with maintenance and engineering teams.
• Perform internal CDOF inspections of cargo tanks, piping and equipment.
• Troubleshoot gearboxes, drive shafts, pumps and related equipment.
• Ensure vessels meet customer specifications and operational requirements.
• Complete inspection reports and vessel documentation.
