Job summary

Kirby-Corporation is seeking a shoreside position focused on barge cleaning, transfer operations, and facility maintenance. The role requires adherence to safety requirements, testing of tanks, and documentation of transfers.

You will work with chemists, operators, and supervisors to ensure safe cargo handling and environmental compliance. The job involves strenuous physical activity, operating pumping and transfer equipment, and rotating day/night shifts at the dock in Texas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1+ year of deckhand experience preferred.
• 1+ year of mechanical and construction experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Basic reading and writing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Clean barges and maintain safety for entry.
• Monitor cargo transfer and assist in line-up of hoses and valves.
• Work under chemist supervision to test tanks for vapor toxicity (LEL).
• Inspect barges and facilities to meet customer specs.
• Maintain dock and transfer documentation and logs.
