Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Vocational Instructor to provide instruction to inmates/detainees in labor and technical skills, through classroom instruction, demonstrations and practical exercises.

You will maintain records, assess educational needs, develop lesson plans, administer exams, counsel students, and perform other duties as assigned, supporting the facility's vocational education program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; five years wage-earning work experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; two years teaching experience required.
• Possess or be eligible for a State of Florida Educator’s certificate; must obtain within twelve months of hire.
• Veterans/spouses may qualify for a Temporary License with specified service/credits/exam requirements.

Responsibilities

• The Vocational Instructor provides instruction to inmates/detainees for various labor and/or technical skills through classroom instruction, demonstration and practical exercises.
• Maintains records including testing, daily offender work, attendance and general record keeping.
• The Vocational Instructor assesses educational needs of inmates, develops lessons plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training.
• Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators.
• The Vocational Instructor counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and personal problems.
• Performs other duties as assigned
