The role investigates and enforces compliance for establishments licensed under RSA 313-A, guiding health and safety in barbering, cosmetology, esthetics, and manicuring sectors.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience OR equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience.
• Education and experience must be in barbering, cosmetology, esthetics, or manicuring.
• Licensure in Barber/Cosmetology/Esthetician/Manicurist/Master Barber required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts inspection of barber, cosmetology, esthetics, and manicuring schools, shops, and training facilities to verify compliance with health/sanitary regulations.
• Inspects licensing and financial records to ensure proper licensing per state laws and board policies.
• Explains inspection results to owners/licensees and advises on corrective actions.
• Investigates public complaints and reports findings to the Board.
• Recommends corrective actions or policy changes based on inspections and carries out Board decisions.
• Advises community officials on sanitation activities within jurisdiction.
• Recommends license issuance or withholding based on on-site inspections.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and handles inquiries.
• Assists in prosecution of licensees with Attorney General’s Office; testifies as needed.
