Job summary

Coastal Orange Beach is seeking a Barback to support opening and daily bar operations. You will prep the bar, keep it stocked, and help set the tone for guest experiences. You’ll work with the Bartender to ensure smooth service and satisfaction.

Responsibilities include inventory, machine prep, cleaning, safety compliance, and teamwork with the management and other departments to resolve supply issues during peak hours.

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented and observant of all elements related to the bar.
  • Must be 21 years or older and capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Prior barback or bartending experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize tasks to keep the bar running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Assemble and maintain frozen drink machines and prepare drink mixes.
  • Take inventory and ensure the bar is stocked to par levels.
  • Clean the bar and tools before/after shifts and follow liquor laws.
  • Anticipate bartender needs and restock during peak service.
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and communicate with management on supply issues.

Job description

Job Summary

The bar staff will play a crucial role in the opening of Coastal and will also set the tone of how the guest’s experience will play out. It is the responsibility of the Barback to prepare the bar for the beginning of the shift as well as ensure the bar remains fully stocked in order for the Bartender to work efficiently which will increase the overall guest satisfaction. Below are the tasks that each Barback must perform on a daily basis to ensure the success of daily operations behind the bar.



Responsibilities


  • Ability to prioritize the tasks that need to be accomplished to make the process easier and more efficient.

  • Attending to the assembly of the frozen drink machines behind the bar as well as the preparation of the drink mixes and continuous filling of the machines.

  • Taking an overall inventory of all of the beer, liquor, wine, mixers, paper goods, garnishes, and miscellaneous bar supplies and making sure the bar is fully stocked to the par levels.

  • Ensure the bar and all-encompassing elements are thoroughly cleaned before and after the shift. This includes glasses, bottles, and bar tools. Be fully aware of all food safety regulations and maintain a clean working space.

  • Anticipate the needs of the Bartender and maintain supply throughout lunch/dinner service.

  • Maintaining cleanliness of the bar and its surrounding areas including emptying trash cans and clearing tables.

  • Build a genuine rapport with customers to gain their trust and a new loyal customer.

  • Maintain open communication with the Bartender to ensure the bar is stocked before the shift and remains stocked throughout the shift.

  • Support and communicate with the management team and other departments at Coastal if there is a problem with bar supplies or bar equipment.

  • Compliance with all local, state, and federal liquor laws.



Essential Qualifications and Experience


  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a positive and engaging personality.

  • Time management abilities and the skill set to efficiently multi-task in a busy environment.

  • Detail oriented and observant of all elements related to the bar.

  • Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing up to 8 consecutive hours and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders and the ability to lift 25 lbs.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be 21 years or older.

  • Prior bartending/ barback/ drink mixology/ barkeep experience is a plus.

  • Willingness to work at peak hours, which may include evenings, holidays, and weekends.

  • The ability to work in a warm/hot environment.



Pay

The pay for this position is $6 per hour + tips.
