Responsibilities

  • Act as the right hand to the bartender, continuously assisting in execution of service and beverage menus.

  • Comply with safety plans and standards as trained.
  • Execute venue recipes and quality control for drinks and food.
  • Exercise sound judgement considering safety and customer needs.
  • Greet and thank guests with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Interact with guests with positivity and composure.
  • Keep work area clean to meet DOH standards.
  • Know menu items and provide recommendations on request.
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitation tasks as directed.
  • Prepare in-house syrups and garnishes.
  • Report to work in neat uniform and maintain personal hygiene.

Holywater NOLA is seeking a Barback with elevated, high-volume restaurant experience. Barbacks are an integral part of our collaborative front‑of‑house team, helping to create exceptional guest experiences.

Position Summary

Barbacks are the central support system for the bar. As such, you must possess a passion for service, knowledge of the beverage world, and strong multi‑tasking and prioritization skills. Barbacks should continually challenge themselves to work quickly and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as the right hand person to the bartender, continuously assisting in execution of service and beverage menus
  • Communicate with venue management daily
  • Comply with Company and Department of Health established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques and safety protocols
  • Comply with Company safety plan and standard as set forth in training materials
  • Execution of venue recipes and food production quality control
  • Exercise sound judgement taking into account safety, customer needs, and environmental factors
  • Greet and thank each guest with energy, enthusiasm, and humility
  • Interact with guests with positivity and composure in all circumstances
  • Keep work area neat and clean at all times to ensure DOH standards are met
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of every item on the menu and answer guest questions with clarity and confidence, providing recommendations upon request
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitation tasks as directed
  • Prepare in‑house syrups and garnishes
  • Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well‑groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy
  • Set up and breakdown station to specification; perform cleaning tasks at the conclusion of each service and prepare for the following service
  • Store food properly and safely according to Company training and DOH standards; complete necessary temperature checks according to Company training
  • Store food properly and safely according to Company training; stock all beverage items properly according to the menu and par levels
  • Uphold established culture and values
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Ability to perform essential job functions when working in a high business volume, fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods of time as required to perform essential job functions
  • Able to lift 30+ lbs.
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • General knowledge of industry safety standards and procedures
  • Industry standard knowledge of classic drink recipes, beer, wine, and spirits
  • Polished personal presentation; grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • Willingness to work in outdoor climate conditions
