Job Description

Overlooking the Poinsettia Valley and the lush golf courses at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, Bar Traza offers rustic Mediterranean shared plates, curated cocktails and delicious light bites in a timeless Spanish-colonial setting. Bar Traza's menu reflects European flavors and the fresh lifestyle of coastal cuisines. Our goal is for Bar Traza to be the premiere lounge venue in North San Diego County.

The Bartender plays a vital role in providing an adult escape by creating and serving intriguing cocktails and beverages. You do not just pour drinks…you create them! Must be willing and able to entertain guests while providing amazing hospitality.

*This is a seasonal position with an anticipated start date of April 15, 2025, and an end date of September 15, 2025.

Responsibilities

1. Report for scheduled shifts on time and in the proper uniform.
2. Maintain a professional, neat, well-groomed appearance.
3. Greet guests with a welcoming demeanor and provide a personalized service experience by following all Omni’s “Steps of Service” protocols as detailed by management.
4. Proof your station. Check for polished silverware, neatness of bar, check for linen spots, holes, and placement.
5. Assist with re-setting bar according to proper table setting standards immediately upon guest departure.
6. Promote food sales to guests seated at the bar and be knowledgeable about food items offered, including daily specials.
7. Maintain strong and detailed knowledge of all cocktails, beers, and wine lists.
8. Maximize beverage sales by suggesting trend-setting specialty cocktails.
9. Sell and up-sell items to increase per person check average.
10. Serve alcohol responsibly and follow company policy and procedure regarding alcohol service.
11. Take the guests’ order, serve the courses/beverages accordingly, and promptly tender payment of the check. Always say thank you to guests as they leave and invite them back, using the guest's name.
12. Clear bar top of non-essential plates, silverware, and glassware during every course throughout the guest meal. Bring dirty plates and glassware to side stations or return to bar appropriately.
13. Utilize the point-of-sale system and run all necessary reports. Tender all checks opened in your number, and follow end-of-shift balancing and check procedures.
14. Make all drinks for guests and service staff. Drinks will include alcoholic, non-alcoholic, smoothies and specialty coffees.
15. Use jiggers to measure all drinks appropriately. Follow all pouring guidelines & cocktail recipe standards. Complete pour tests as needed, including demonstration of mixology techniques and acumen.
16. Complete, fill, and stock requisitions to par levels with the authorization of management.
17. Keep the bar fully stocked with fresh cut fruit, ice and all items on the par sheets.
18. Maintain cleanliness levels according to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
19. Answer the phone when needed (i.e., to-go orders). Be able to answer any guest questions or direct them to someone who can.
20. Transfer opened checks for guests who are waiting to be seated in the dining room to the appropriate server.
21. Work as a team with all Associates to maintain an effective, positive atmosphere to run an efficient food and beverage service.
22. Be attentive and proactive in offering assistance to members and guests.
23. Work safely and follow all Omni Safety and Loss Prevention standards.
24. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

1. A minimum of two years bartending experience is required.
2. Must have excellent wine, beer and cocktail knowledge.
3. Ability to work with a sense of urgency and multi-task.
4. Must be 21 years of age or older.
5. Great communication skills – the ability to engage with guests professionally, appropriately and courteously.
6. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Necessary Licenses/Certifications:

1. RBS Certification will be required prior to the start of employment.
2. Must complete CA Food Handler’s Card training provided upon hire.

Pay Rate: $16.50/hr + tips
