Job summary

Kansas Crossing Casino + Hotel in Pittsburg, KS is seeking a Bar Porter to support the Bartender, deliver gracious hospitality, and maintain clean bar areas in line with sanitation standards.

You will participate in pre-shift meetings, uphold 5S principles, assist with setup for events, and help ensure guest satisfaction through friendly, prompt service.

• Wash hands frequently and handle chemicals with proper labeling and storage.
• Operate the dish machine and complete daily maintenance tasks.
• Assist with special event setup and breakdown and support overall team operations.
• Follow 5S principles: Sort, Set in order, Systematically clean, Standardize, Sustain; date items with current date.

The Bar Porter is responsible to provide a level of service which is gracious, kind and warm that creates a sense of fondness that is Hometown Hospitality and delivers Fun for the casino guests. The Bar Porter will assist the Bartender in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness according to the food service sanitation codes. Focus on departmental goals of Consistency, Quality and Sense of Urgency.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Be punctual to pre-shift meeting with a positive attitude and openly participate.


• Consistently provide Hometown Hospitality and deliver Fun, as well as live the core values of Fun, Friendly and Community.


• Comply with department standards, guidelines and objectives to include adherence to all Food Service and Sanitation, OSHA, and Hazcom standards and guidelines.


• Wash hands frequently.


• Provide consistent high quality food and beverage service to all guests dining in the restaurants by adhering to sequence of service standards completely and correctly.


• Safeguard company assets and adheres to all policies and procedures.


• Create teamwork by helping co-workers with essential function.


• Adhere to all company policies and procedures to include strict adherence to attendance and appearance guidelines as well as confidentiality regarding guest information.


• Practice all alcohol awareness policies and procedures.


• Maintain a clear and organized work area, cleaning as you go and cleaning spills immediately.


• Use chemicals as prescribed and responsibly. Ensuring that all chemicals are in properly labeled containers.


• Maintain floor cleanliness, ALWAYS using wet floor safety signage when floors are being cleaned or wet.


• Remove trash and waste, clean trash can and replenish with liners as needed. Ensure items being disposed of are appropriate. Report all breakage.


• Deep clean bar.


• Operate dish machine and complete daily maintenance.


• Fill ice and maintain storage area cleanliness and organization.


• Assist with special event setup and breakdown.


• Assist the bartender in putting supplies away adhering to the 5S Principles of ensuring that items are Sorted, Set in order, Systematically cleaned, Standardize and Sustained and dating all items with the current date.


• Conduct him/her in a gracious, kind and warm manner that creates a sense of fondness, as well as professional, courteous and responsive manner, which reflects positively on the company and its core values of Fun, Family and Community.


• Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.


• Obtain required license(s).


• Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.


• Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.


• Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Members department.


• Have knowledge of the Propertys programs to address problem gambling.


• Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with the state regulations and Systems of Internal Controls.


• Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.


• Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member that they have knowledge of.
