Waldorf Astoria is seeking a Bar Manager to join the food and beverage team in Chicago's Gold Coast!

This Forbes 4-Star property located in downtown Chicago features 318 rooms, 8,500 square feet of banquet space, and 4 food and beverage outlets, including a restaurant, cocktail lounge, cafe, and in-room dining.

In this role, you will oversee the hotel's speakeasy, Bernard's, managing a team of over 10 staff members, reporting directly to the General Manager of Restaurants & Bars, and assisting with the other three food and beverage outlets as needed.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic leader with a talent for maintaining high standards, a passion for creating personalized guest experiences, and fostering a positive team culture. A minimum of 2 years of bar and beverage experience in an upscale or fine dining environment is required. Experience in a union environment and luxury hotels is a plus.

As the Bar Manager, your responsibilities include assisting the Food & Beverage Director in managing daily operations across outlets to deliver outstanding guest service and achieve financial goals. Specific duties include:

  • Leading, directing, and managing all outlet operations, including budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, policy compliance, sales and marketing initiatives, guest inquiries, and team meetings.
  • Recruiting, hiring, supervising, training, evaluating, coaching, and recognizing staff, especially department heads.
  • Monitoring service quality, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, standards compliance, and financial performance.
  • Identifying performance gaps and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ensuring guest and team member satisfaction.
  • Serving as Restaurant General Manager in the absence of the GM.
