Job summary

Toca Madera in Houston is seeking an observant, efficient Bar Back to support bartenders in a fast-paced environment. You will clean the bar, prepare garnishes, ensure the bar is stocked with napkins, straws, glassware, and all other necessities, and assist in duties to keep the bar operating smoothly.

You should be knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and focused on delivering the best possible service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in a full-service dining environment.
• Knowledge of cocktails, spirits and wine.
• Ability to stand for shifts and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Available to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Restock garnishes, napkins, straws and glassware.
• Keep bar stocked with ice, liquor, wine and beer.
• Check taps and appliances and handle minor repairs.
• Learn menu items and memorize cocktail recipes.
• Take orders, prepare drinks, bus tables, open tabs, and process payments.
• Speak to customers, answer questions and handle complaints.
• Maintain records and report usage levels to assist in reordering.
• Ensure brand standards and proper back bar setup.
• Oversee preparation of cocktails and correct measurements.
