The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa is seeking a Banquet Server to support all banquet and banquet-related food and beverage operations. This role upholds the luxury standard and requires discretion and professionalism.

You will serve food and beverages, assist with transporting equipment, maintain sanitation, and coordinate with the Banquet Captain, Director of Banquets, and Executive Chef to ensure flawless events.

Qualifications

• Experience in a banquets environment is helpful.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• TABC certificate and Food Handlers Certification required.

JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for the service of all banquets and banquet-related food and beverage operations for The Houstonian Hotel. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMaintain a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction. Perform all guest contact activities such as serving food and beverage, answering guest questions, in a cordial, efficient and professional manner.Ensure that the food and beverage is served while maintaining a consistent presentation and proper temperature.Assist in transporting food, beverage, equipment, meeting supplies, china, glass, silverware and linen inventories on a predetermined basis.Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with the management team and fellow employees (including other departments).Enforce all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and requirements.Organizing equipment for a function as well as cleaning, maintaining, and looking after equipment during and after functions.Make sure all storerooms are clean, organized and secured.Immediate communication of special requests, guest problems or concerns to Banquet Captain, Director of Banquets and/or Executive Chef.Follow all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure and energy efficient.Adhere to all department and The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa policies and procedures.Ensure the proper handling and cleaning of all equipment, china, glass, and silver.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSHigh school education is preferred but not required.Previous experience in a banquets environment is helpful.Must be of legal age limit with respect to serving alcoholic beverages.Hours required: Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs.LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS• Must have a TABC certificate and Food Handlers Certification.PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTSMust be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to perform all activities in a professional manner. Must be able to see and read printed matter with or without vision aids.Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.Literacy: Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
