Job summary

Shaner Hotels invites applications for a Banquet Server at the Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, PA. The role requires flexibility for weekends and holidays, strong guest-service skills, and a friendly, proactive approach to service during events.

You'll greet guests, assist with seating, take and deliver orders, and ensure cleanliness and professional presentation of your station while upholding safety standards and brand expectations.

Qualifications

• Previous banquet operations or hospitality experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with guests, management and co-workers.
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Minimum age to serve alcohol as required by law.
• ServSafe and/or food safety training beneficial.
• Alcohol awareness training (TIPS) a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of local activities and attractions for guests.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet spaces and service stations for events as required.
• Greet guests, assist seating and take beverage and food orders.
• Serve courses and beverages according to hotel standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.

Job Description

• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.
• Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications.
• Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating at tables.
• Take and retrieve guests' alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, when specified on function requirements.
• Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests; always maintain positive guest relations.
• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Banquet Server ensures quality customer service to our guests during events and banquets. Set up assigned tables, retrieve and serve beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications and group requirements; maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality preferred.
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
• High school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred.
• Minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
