Job summary

Fisher Island Club, a private resort in Florida, seeks an On-Call Banquet Server to support upscale events on a flexible schedule.

In this role you will anticipate guest needs, deliver food and beverages with courtesy, and uphold exceptional service across indoor/outdoor settings. The position offers complimentary parking and a free meal per work shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of banquet/event serving experience preferred.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands: stand long periods, climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in indoor/outdoor settings.
• Ability to communicate in English with guests and staff.
• Food Handler/Responsible Vendor certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform banquet/event side work as designated by the Banquet Manager.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of banquet/event area.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitary practices.
• Present ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Maintain dining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude.
• Set tables, decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
• Transmit orders and note dietary needs to bar/kitchen.
• Keep kitchen staff informed on meal timing.
• Deliver orders and accompaniments to tables.
• Respond to guest needs and concerns promptly.
• Maintain proper table settings and replenish supplies.
• Communicate important information to Banquet Manager/Banquet Captain.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform all banquet/event side work as designated by the Banquet Manager.
• Assist with the complete setup and breakdown of the banquet/event area.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices.
• Presents ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Maintains dining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude.
• Prepares room for dining by setting tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
• Protects establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
• Helps guests select food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the chef’s specialties, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions.
• Transmits orders to the bar and kitchen by recording patrons’ choices and identifying patrons’ special dietary needs and special requests.
• Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting the timing of meal progression.
• Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons’ choices from the bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars.
• Responds to additional patron requirements by inquiring about needs and observing the dining process.
• Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
• Maintain composure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Relay important information about orders, allergies, and special requests to the Banquet Manager/Banquet Captain.
• Respond urgently and appropriately to any concerns.
• Present in professional appearance and mannerisms.
• Report to the Banquet Manager/Banquet Captain any need for housekeeping and/or repairs of the banquet equipment.
• Must be able to set tables to specifications, carry trays, and have an excellent customer service experience.

Job Qualifications / Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 3 years of banquet/event serving experience preferred.
• Needs to meet state minimum age requirements (if alcohol will be served).
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, lift, carry, and maintain a weight of up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to walk/stand on various surfaces, sand, grass, tile, concrete, etc.
• Must use arms and hands to carry, reach, serve, clean, organize, prepare, and store, etc.
• Must possess Food Handler/Responsible vendor certification.
• Work is performed in either or both indoor/outdoor settings.
• Must stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift/event. Including room breakdown to include plates, glassware, cutlery, linens etc.,
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co‑workers to their understanding.
