Job summary

Fisher Island Club is seeking an ON-CALL Banquet Server to support upscale resort banquets in a private-island setting. This On-Call role involves flexible scheduling, assisting with setup and breakdown, and delivering impeccable guest service across indoor/outdoor banquet events.

Eligible candidates have banquet experience, strong customer service, and the stamina to work in fast-paced environments. Complimentary parking and a free meal per shift are offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of banquet/event serving experience preferred.
  • Must meet state minimum age requirements (if alcohol will be served).
  • Ability to stand for long periods, climb stairs, lift, carry, and manage up to 50 lbs.
  • Walk/stand on varied surfaces (sand, grass, tile, concrete).
  • Must possess Food Handler/Responsible Vendor certification.
  • Work is performed in indoor/outdoor settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • CPR/AED certification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all banquet/event side work as designated by the Banquet Manager.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of the banquet/event area.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitary practices.
  • Present ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Maintain dining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude.
  • Set tables and decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
  • Adhere to sanitation, safety, and alcohol policies.
  • Assist guests with food/beverage selections and pairings; explain chef's specialties.
  • Transmit orders to bar and kitchen and note dietary needs.
  • Keep kitchen staff informed of meal progression timings.
  • Serve orders by delivering items from bar/kitchen and accompaniments.
  • Respond to patron needs and questions; observe dining process for quality.
  • Maintain table settings by clearing courses and replenishing utensils.
  • Remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relay information to Banquet Manager about orders and allergies.
  • Respond to concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Present a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Report any housekeeping/repair needs to Banquet Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform all banquet/event side work as designated by the Banquet Manager.
  • Assist with the complete setup and breakdown of the banquet/event area.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices.
  • Presents ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Maintains dining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude.
  • Prepares room for dining by setting tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
  • Protects establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Helps guests select food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions.
  • Transmits orders to the bar and kitchen by recording patrons' choices and identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests.
  • Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting the timing of meal progression.
  • Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons' choices from the bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars.
  • Responds to additional patron requirements by inquiring about needs and observing the dining process.
  • Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relay important information about orders, allergies, and special requests to the Banquet Manager/Banquet Captain.
  • Respond urgently and appropriately to any concerns.
  • Present in professional appearance and mannerisms.
  • Report to the Banquet Manager/Banquet Captain any need for housekeeping and/or repairs of the banquet equipment.
  • Must be able to set tables to specifications, carry trays, and have an excellent customer service experience.
Job Qualifications / Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of banquet/event serving experience preferred.
  • Needs to meet state minimum age requirements (if alcohol will be served).
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, lift, carry, and maintain a weight of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk/stand on various surfaces, sand, grass, tile, concrete, etc.
  • Must use arms and hands to carry, reach, serve, clean, organize, prepare, and store, etc.
  • Must possess Food Handler/Responsible vendor certification.
  • Work is performed in either or both indoor/outdoor settings.
  • Must stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift/event. Including room breakdown to include plates, glassware, cutlery, linens etc.,
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Extreme attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to follow verbal directions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
  • CPR/AED certification is beneficial
