Job description

The Banquet server plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of catering events and functions. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented mindset. The Banquet server is responsible for assisting with food and beverage preparation, setup, service, and cleanup, while maintaining a high standard of quality and professionalism. General Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of catering events, including tables, chairs, linens, and decorations.
  • Arrange and present food and beverage items in an appealing and organized manner.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of catering areas throughout the event.
  • Assist in the loading, unloading, & transportation of food, equipment, and supplies to and from event locations.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure proper inventory management and restocking.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, guests, and coworkers to ensure a seamless event experience.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing guests' inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Assist in the cleanup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring proper disposal of waste and returning equipment to designated areas.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Experience/Knowledge:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
  • No previous experience required for this position.
  • Previous experience in catering or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.
  • Familiarity with catering equipment and tools.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to engage and connect with customers.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in beverage preparation and order fulfillment.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and willingness to assist in various roles as needed.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and passion for coffee and providing an exceptional customer experience.
  • Problem-solving skills to address unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
License/Qualifications:

Certifications: None.

  • Food Handler's Permit or willingness to obtain one.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up and carry heavy trays and equipment to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • Work primarily takes place in catering event venues and kitchens. This may include but is not limited to indoor settings, & outside activities and events.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours based on the needs of the business.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold & wet locations during support of outside activities.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
