Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory And Supplies
- Assist in managing banquet inventory by properly handling, cleaning, and storing banquet equipment and supplies.
- Minimize waste and ensure efficient use of food, beverages, linens, and supplies.
- Support beverage service (non-alcoholic and alcoholic, if applicable), ensuring proper billing and inventory controls.
Event Set-up And Teamwork
- Work closely with the Banquet Captain, Event Manager, and culinary team to ensure smooth event execution.
- Cooperate with team members to deliver exceptional service throughout set-up, event service, and breakdown.
- Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude with guests, vendors, and coworkers.
- Communicate guest requests, service challenges, or last-minute changes promptly to supervisors.
Guest Experience & Service
- Greet and serve guests in a prompt, friendly, and attentive manner throughout events.
- Set up tables, chairs, linens, buffet stations, and decor according to event specifications.
- Replenish food and beverage items during events while maintaining cleanliness of service areas.
- Respond quickly to guest requests and ensure their satisfaction throughout the event.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation in all banquet areas.
- Follow up with guests when appropriate to ensure service exceeds expectations.
Responsible Business Practices
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, food handling procedures, and equipment use.
- Ensure all event spaces are left clean and orderly following each function.
- Assist with maintaining banquet storage rooms in a clean and organized fashion.
- Participate in hotel sustainability efforts, such as waste separation and recycling during events.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, hazards, or injuries to a supervisor immediately.
- Comply with all Maya Hotels policies, grooming standards, and the Code of Ethics.
- Wear a proper banquet uniform and maintain professional grooming standards—a smile is always part of the uniform.
Education, Skills And Abilities
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous banquet, catering, or hospitality experience is a plus but not required. Training provided.
- Communication Skills: Ability to interact professionally with team members.
- Attention to Details: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Team Player: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, push and lift for extended periods during service hours.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., including food trays, beverage crates, and inventory items.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling banquet equipment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment with changing demands.
