Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Banquet Server to provide food and beverage service for Northern Illinois University events. The role supports various service styles, from buffets to plated meals, and works under the Banquet Captain and Supervisor.

You will help with setup, service, and breakdown while maintaining high presentation standards. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, hospitality experience, and relevant alcohol-service certifications (TIPS or equivalent).

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations.
• Must maintain a valid TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures), or equivalent alcohol-service certification, and comply with all state-specific alcohol training requirements.
• A food handler certification may also be required based on state or local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide food and beverage services to guests attending catered events, including meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions.
• Support service styles ranging from casual buffets to formal plated meals and passed service.
• Assist with event setup, service execution, and breakdown.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations, and work areas during events.
• Clear tables, reset place settings, and assist with presentation standards.
• Attend work and show up on time for scheduled shifts with reliable regularity.
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities.
