Summary

The Banquet Server is primarily responsible for providing support in all areas of Banquets including but not limited to assisting in table and banquet room clean up. This individual will promote a safe and welcoming working environment to achieve maximum guest satisfaction and works with the Banquet Manager/Assistant Banquet Manager to ensure maximum efficiency.

Essential functions

  • Serves guests according to function sheets.
  • Greet guests upon their arrival to function.
  • Signs in and reports to the Banquet Manager/Assistant Banquet Manager on time and in full uniform.
  • Follows standard procedures for banquet service, including set up and side duties.
  • Assists in table and banquet room clean up.
  • Works cooperatively with the banquet department to assure smooth operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or the Assistant Banquet Manager.
  • Assists with the setting, decoration and tear-down/removal of buffets.
  • Assist with the setting of banquet tables for a full-service meal. Quickly clear dirty banquet table settings and prepare table tear-down/removal.
  • Open and close banquet checks in point-of-sale system
  • Assist banquet house attendant with set up or tear-down as needed.
Qualifications

Education & experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic banquet service
  • Previous server experience is preferred, but not required
  • Fluency in other languages beneficial

Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Detail-oriented and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Deal effectively and interact well with coworkers and guests
  • Willing to pitch-in and be a team player
  • Comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel
  • Transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
  • Operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication English skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
