Job summary

The Crescent Hotels Group is seeking a qualified banquet/Events supervisor to lead staff, coordinate room setups, and ensure top‑level service for functions in Houston. You will work closely with kitchen, beverage, and service teams to execute events according to specifications and brand standards.

You will hire, train, and evaluate team members, manage inventory and billing for each function, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or events management is preferred.
• Ability to supervise banquet staff and coordinate service during events.
• Strong communication and leadership for team directions.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, train, and evaluate staff; address performance as needed.
• Set up function rooms according to event orders; ensure inventory and condition.
• Coordinate with kitchen, service, beverage, and engineering teams for timely execution.
• Maintain banquet equipment and OS&E/FF&E standards reflecting brand expectations.
• Supervise post-event cleanup, storage, and equipment breakdown.
• Enter billing data into POS system and process payroll for events.
• Monitor staff attendance and reassign stations to maintain service quality.
• Manage casual labor efficiently to uphold standards.
• Provide clear written and verbal directions to staff.
• Attend as required and perform other duties; comply with safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.

2. Supervise the set up of function rooms to include placement of linens, silver, china, and glassware according to event order specifications. Visually inspect function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and set up.

3. Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, during the course of the function with the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staff, as well as the guest host to ensure timely execution of events, quality service, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.

4. Maintain inventory of all banquet equipment and ensure and OS+E and FF+E are the appropriate conditions to reflect our guest service and brand expectations. Any replacement orders discussed with the Team must be supported by an inventory in most cases.

5. Supervise clean-up of function room and proper breakdown and storage of equipment.

6. Enter billing information into point of sale/automated sales system to generate a final guest check. Process payroll for each event which includes calculating number of hours worked and gratuity distribution.

7. Check staff attendance according to schedules, adjust and reassign server stations, as necessary, to provide quality service during functions.

8. Management casual labor efficiently in accordance with our quality. Appearance and skills required standards.

9. Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear directions to staff.

10. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

11. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
