Job summary

COMMONWEALTH LODGING MANAGEMENT LLC is hiring a Banquet Manager at Marriott Short Pump in Glen Allen, VA. The role leads event operations, oversees banquet teams, and ensures flawless execution of weddings, conferences, and catered events.

You will manage staffing, coordinate with Sales and Culinary teams, and maintain guest satisfaction through outstanding service and organizational leadership. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of banquet or catering management experience.
• Hotel, conference center, or event venue experience preferred.
• Experience overseeing banquet teams in high-volume environments.
• Experience managing both permanent and temporary staff preferred.

Responsibilities

• Event Operations & Leadership: Review and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs); Coordinate room setups, timelines, and service styles; Ensure client specs are delivered; Direct event setup, service, and transitions; Oversee multiple events simultaneously.
• Team Management: Schedule and supervise banquet captains, servers, and setup teams; Manage temporary and agency staff; Lead, coach, and support team members; Ensure staffing aligns with event requirements.
• Guest & Client Relations: Serve as on-site contact for clients; Resolve concerns quickly; Deliver exceptional service; Build relationships with clients and internal departments.
• Coordination & Planning: Partner with Sales and Culinary teams; Coordinate staffing, equipment, and service needs; Manage room turns and changeovers; Ensure multi-day event execution.
• FINANCIAL & OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor labor costs and staffing efficiency; Review agency invoices; Track linen and equipment; Monitor loss and damage; Verify guest counts for billing; Support department goals.

FINANCIAL & OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor banquet labor costs and staffing efficiency
• Manage temporary labor expenses within budget guidelines
• Review agency invoices for accuracy
• Track linen and equipment inventory
• Identify replacement and replenishment needs
• Monitor loss and damage of banquet assets
• Verify guest counts and service additions for accurate event billing
• Support operational and financial goals of the department
