San Jose Country Club is seeking a skilled and dependable Banquet Lead Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume banquet operations, strong leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests. You will be responsible for leading kitchen operations during banquet events, ensuring quality, consistency, and timeliness of all food served.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and execution of banquet meals, including plated dinners, buffets, hors d'oeuvres, and special event menus

  • Supervise and support line cooks and prep staff during banquet shifts

  • Ensure food is prepared according to standardized recipes, club standards, and dietary restrictions

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with health department and club regulations

  • Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Banquet Chef, and front-of-house team regarding timing, menu details, and special requests

  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving of banquet-specific food items

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff during banquet prep and service

  • Ensure proper food storage, rotation, and labeling (FIFO procedures)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in banquet or high-volume cooking, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food safety standards (ServSafe certification preferred)

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the banquet schedule

  • Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills

  • Able to lift 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
